- »Christoph Vogelsang Excels in The High Roller Big Game
Christoph Vogelsang had Ad8s and made it 18,000 pre-flop. Cary Katz called with 9h8h. The flop of TcAs5s saw both men check, but on the 5c turn, a 25,000 bet from Vogelsang got a quick fold from Katz and the players went on break. Christoph Vogelsang FKW429 GPID is a unique identification number, assigned to each individual player, that will be used in the future in order to register for most poker tournaments around the world.
The High Roller Big Game is partypoker’s most expensive weekly tournament. It commands a $2,600 buy-in, which means it’s packed to the rafter with poker’s elite players. Christoph Vogelsang was one of those elite, one who emerged from battle victoriously.
Vogelsang resides in London, United Kingdom but is one of Germany’s biggest poker stars. His methodical approach isn’t to everyone’s taste, but it works as is evident from his $25,064,465 in winnings. He’s no slouch in the online poker world either as he has a long list of big scores to his name. The German now has another after taking down the High Roller Big Game.
Some 139 players bought into this week’s High Roller Big Game and created a $344,250 prize pool. Only the top 20 finishers received a slice of this pie meaning plenty of big names went home empty-handed.
Adrian Mateos, Artur Martirosian, and David Peters are just three players who didn’t cash. Alex Foxen finished in 21st place and burst the money bubble.
Mark Radoja and Thomas Muehloecker were the first High Roller Big Game entrants to cash. Jans Arends, Caribbean Poker Party Super High Roller champion Pascal Lefrancois did too.
Czech grinder Michael Sklenicka burst the final table bubble when he ran out of steam in 10th place.
High Roller Big Game Final Table Reached
All but one of the nine finalists walked away with a five-figure prize for their efforts. New Zealand’s Sosia Jiang fell in ninth for $9,122, making the tournament an all-male affair. Jiang has some incredible results to her name and is a rising star of the game.
Alexandros Theologis secured the first prize weighing in at five-figures. He banked $11,016 for his eighth-place exit.

Seventh place and $13,425 went to Vojtech Skalak of Czech Republic, before British star Sam Grafton fell by the wayside in sixth, a finish worth $16,351. Grafton has been a top poker tournament player for more than a decade. He’s racked up more than $8 million from online events and almost $3.6 million live.

Canada’s Sebastian Sikorski is another grinder who’s been a force to be reckoned with for a long time. The Ontario resident has almost $14 million in online poker tournament cashes dating back to 2007. This latest result saw Sikorski reel in a $20,655 prize.
The man who finished in fourth-place for $29,261 is know all around the world. Justin Bonomo has an incredible $49,128,105 in live event winnings, the second-most of all-time. He couldn’t get the job done in this event, however, but almost $30,000 for an evening’s “work” isn’t bad going.

Any of the final three players in the High Roller Big Game would have been a worthy champion. All three are highly regarded and their peers have tons of respect for them.
Luke Reeves of the United Kingdom crashed out in third-place and got his hands on $40,731. Reeves took a break from tournaments to grind cash games but is back in the MTT world.
Reeves’ exit left Vogelsang and Samuel Vousden heads-up. The final pair of players didn’t strike a deal despite the $22,000 difference in prize money. This meant Vousden had to make do with the $55,933 consolation prize when he lost the one-on-one battle. Vogelsang was crowned champion and received $77,697 to go with that accolade.
